New Kids Line Celebrates Levi's 150th Anniversary

It's hard, almost impossible, to imagine the world of fashion without a piece of jeans. We all know or have had a pair of Levi's pants in our closet. But what is the history of these iconic pants? This year, the famous clothing company Levi's turns 150, and this is the perfect time to look back at the history of the brand and how denim has evolved to today.

Our company BimbiVip, a Levi's retailer, has been committed since the very beginning to offering our customers many models and shades proposed by the iconic brand.

Levi's was founded in 1853 by Levi Strauss, a young German immigrant who settled in San Francisco. The company initially sold fabrics and various clothing, but after some time Strauss decided to focus on the production of denim work pants. In 1873, precisely on May 20, Levi's introduced the 501 pant, a garment that would become the symbol of the brand appreciated and loved by many people. Why 501? It indicated a sequential number that was assigned to all the garments produced by Levi Strauss and Co.

The 501 was originally designed as work trousers for miners in the American West, very wide at the waist and with a sort of buckle at the back that allowed the trousers to be tightened, thus avoiding the use of a belt.

Over time, the design evolved and became an icon of casual fashion, also expanding to women. Denim, originally a durable fabric, became a symbol of youth rebellion during the 1950s and 1960s, when young people began wearing denim pants as a symbol of protest against the establishment.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Levi's became a global clothing brand, and denim pants spread across the world. In the 1990s, the Levi's craze hit, and ripped and worn jeans became a popular fashion, and Levi's adapted to the new trends with new product lines and designs.

Today, Levi's continues to be a successful clothing brand, with a wide range of products, including jackets, shirts, T-shirts and, of course, jeans, also dedicated to the little ones!

In recent years, the brand has also taken an interest in the topic of sustainability and social responsibility, which has become a priority for many clothing companies and beyond. Levi's has thus begun to produce clothes with a low environmental impact, also committing to reducing emissions from production activities.

The company has launched several initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint. One of these is the reduction of water use during the production of jeans. Important is the technology called WaterLess, which uses up to 96% less water than traditional jeans washing processes.

Additionally, Levi's has also established a jeans recycling program called "Levi's SecondHand," which allows consumers to donate old Levi's jeans for a cash reward that can be used to purchase new clothing. In this way, Levi's encourages waste reduction and extending the life of their products.

In conclusion, Levi's 150 years have been a story of success and constant evolution. Levi's has faced many challenges and has maintained its position as one of the most iconic clothing brands in the world. Who knows what the future holds for denim and Levi's.

BimbiVip has a decade-long experience with Levi's and every year we strive to stay up to date with the new releases from this great brand.
